132nd Square Park
Kirkland, WA

NEED: The park at 132nd Street in Kirkland was in need of places to sit and watch children play or take shelter from the rain. Community members worked with Pomegranate Center to plan and design improvements to the park.

SOLUTION: Talk about a makeover! This park now has a picnic shelter made of cedar with a granite tile and sage green quartzite floor, a crushed gravel walking path, a stone wall and story-telling circle made of limestone, slate and donated rocks, benches and tables made of cedar and beautiful hand painted banners. 175 people volunteered over 1500 hours to bring this project to fruition.

EVENT GRANT: To celebrate and promote Kirkland 132nd Square Park Gathering Place, three event grants of $400 each will be awarded to support events for the community at this new gathering space.
